In anticipation of another great Garden Club year, the Conservation Committee has planned a variety of programs focusing on our environment and quality of life. The Garden Club calendar includes a summary of these events, and more complete details will be provided in this space as the year progresses.
A "Buy Local, Eat Local" display will be exhibited at the Zone II Annual Meeting flower show on October 26 & 27. While you're at the show, be sure to check it out and get the web link to the updated guide to buying locally in New Haven County.
The Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) has published a comprehensive guide to organic land care, written by Sarah Little, Ph.D., which includes a checklist for an "eco-friendly" property. The publication is a part of NOFA's Organic Land Care Program. You can view the guide on line or download it from the following website:
We welcome new committee members! Please contact me if you'd like to join us.
