Garden Club of New Haven
General Meeting
December 12, 2011
Edgerton Park, Carriage House, 154 Edgehill Road
President Susan Ehrenkranz called the meeting to oder at 12:20 p.m.
President Ehrenkranz began her remarks by thanking the general membership for the arrangements made today in the Holiday Workshop, Civic Chair Judi Freudenberg for her work in organizing the workshop and in assuring that all deliveries are made, and Lucy Elliot for her contribution over the years in spearheading this important project of the GardenClub. She also thanks Ways and Means’ Elaine Anderson, Liz O’Connor and Betsy Harmayer for the wonderful display of holiday fare that they had gathered.
President Ehrenkranz reported on a letter that she had recently received from the Zone II director. She described the letter as a fabulous evaluation of the Zone II flower show, and read aloud certain of the comments; “good show,” “with distinction,” “unequivocally succeeded on all points.” She thanked all involved in the show, and Lisa Lovejoy and Vicki Arkins for their efforts in assembling it.
The President toted that a final accounting of the Zone II meeting will be reported at the meeting of the general membership in January 2012. The Louse B. Carter Lecture will also be presented then. This year it is Page Dickey’s “Revisiting Duck Hill.” Ms. Ehrenknanz extended warm holiday wishes to all.
From Hospitality Sondra Haller thanked Elaine Anderson, Karen Doyle, Betsy Harmayer, Mikey Hirschoff, Ann Hoefer, Christina Janis, illie Ladd, and Lisa Lovejoy for the copious and truly delicious soup, sandwiches and desserts.
Garden History and Design Chair Anemone Schweizer-Kaplan presented the slideshow on Phelps Triangle that was recently accepted by the Smithsonian Institution for inclusion inits Garden History Archives. She thanked AMy Estabrook for the more recent photographs of Phelps through the seasons.
Karen Doyle was the lucky winner of the raffle prize.
The meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
