Christmas Workshop, 12/10

December 10th beginning at 9:30 am

It is time once again for our annual Christmas Workshop. First some history and explanation. Way back in 1997, member Lucy Elliot had the wonderful idea of harnessing the many talents of the club members in order to make small table arrangements for area senior residences and nursing homes. We gathered together with greens and decorations to make enough arrangements for four places. Since 1997 that number has grown to as many as six. Last year we changed the format some what and decided to not have a formal meeting that day but to enjoy each others company over a glass of wine and a delicious lunch. Ways and Means always has baked goods to sell and other things of interest as well. It is a fun time for all and and the people we serve are so appreciative of these bright and merry arrangements. It is very gratifying to deliver boxes of Christmas cheer and at the same time to have so much fun doing it. This year we will be making arrangements for five senior residences/homes and the Christ Church Soup Kitchen.

The following have agreed to be this years Home Chairmen
Barclay Smith, The Mary Wade Home
Ann Burrow, Arden Courts
Pam Hamilton, Leeway
Cordalie Benoit, Ella Scantlebury Senior Residence
Nancy Duble, The Hamden Health Center
Nancy Ahlstrom, Chairman of the large arrangements
Isabel Caride, Boxwood Chairman

Two places will receive arrangements made out of boxwood which we purchase, the rest are made from mixed greens which you all bring to the workshop that morning. Please EVERYBODY, BRING GREENS ; yours, your neighbors or purchased greens if necessary. give them a good wetting down before hand. Remember, the workshop is held in the Carriage House at Edgerton Park on December 10th starting at 9:30. If you can't get there until later come anyway, you might be able to make one arrangement and we can use the greens. We will finish around noon.

The Home Chairman will be looking for drivers to deliver the arrangements at the conclusion of the party. Please consider volunteering that day to drive, you'll not only be helping out you will enjoy it.

Remember, greens ! greens ! and more GREENS !!! Monday, Dec, 10th.
