Many thanks to Civic Committee member Christine Janis for organizing a fun-filled flower arranging afternoon with twenty 8th graders at King/Robinson School in New Haven. Betsy Nininger expertly led the class and was ably assisted by Christine Janis, Amy Estabrook, Barclay Smith, Cordalie Benoit, Ann Hoefer, Ann Burrow, Judi Freudenburg, Debbie Edwards and Anne Marie Gilbert. The students created beautiful oval arrangements using daisies, ahlstromeiria, mums, carnations, ruscus and lemon leaves. They were so proud of their accomplishments, and it was a wonderfully successful way for us to teach, learn and interact with our neighbors in the community.
