Please join party for interns who planted elm trees !

URI is celebrating the fifty interns who are planting the 500 trees this fall along NH's streets. The Big Green Pizza Truck ($25) is providing dinner, Wednesday, 5-7 pm at the Marsh Greenhouse. It should be fun and as there are a few very good supporters of GreenSkills as members of the GCNH they might like to join in the party. We might be about 65-75 people depending on the GC attendance. Our board, some FES staff and interns and a few supporters are the guests.

Urban Resources Initiative, a program at the Forestry School which the Garden Club has supported over the years. In fact the club sponsored us for the Founders Fund grant of the GCA (and we got the second prize). We work with communities to take back, plant and maintain their open spaces such as empty lots, streets and front yards and this current program with the city which is planning to plant 10000 trees over the next five years. We call that Trees 10K.

GreenSkills is a program at URI which trains people in need of job skills to plant these trees; they are paid whereas the community groups are not.
