International Flower Show In Boston this June

10th International Flower Show – This Glorious Earth

Dear GCA Club member,

While we know that most of you have probably heard about the 10th International Flower Show, This Glorious Earth, we, the WAFA Management Committee, are writing to gather the GCA membership together to embrace and promote this extraordinary event.

Admitted to WAFA in 1996 (in New Zealand), the USA has been elected to be the Host Country for 2008-2011. We have fulfilled the first part of the requirements:

A highly successful 10-day Seminar of workshops, flower shows, cultural exchanges, and immersion in Americana; attended by 100 guests representing 25 countries.

Publication of an American design book: Flower Arranging the American Way (available at www.wafausa.org along with our newest publication Leaf Manipulation)

The remaining major piece is the 10th International Flower Show. June 15 – 19, 2011: The Seaport World Trade Center, Boston, Massachusetts, will be the site for this innovative Flower Show. In addition to 600 competitive designs there will be 30 Honorary Arrangements each representing a WAFA country. The younger generation is included in a Youth Division. Information about the Show as well as lectures, floral demonstrations, Preview Party, Gala Banquet and tours can be found on the www.wafausa.org website.

Our goals are to:

Produce a world-class international flower show Promote international friendship and cultural exchange through the medium of flowers

Showcase the City of Boston and by extension the entire United States to 40,000

visitors from as close as next door to as far away as other side of the world (including a great many from Pakistan and Japan, as well as the UK, Western Europe, Africa, Australia and South America.)

We all take great pride in our country: its heritage and values, its leadership in addressing issues that threaten our environment and the sustainability of natural resources, as well as our contribution to the art of flower arranging. This unique Show is our way of saying thank you!

Come to Boston and be dazzled! Enter the Show, volunteer; or simply come for a once-in-a- generation experience and to support This Glorious Earth.

Kind regards,

Ruth C. Crocker
