In Memory Of George Heston

The Garden Club Of New Haven lost another dear member on April 28th with the death of George Heston. George was an honorary member of the garden club and along with his wife,Sustainer member,Jean Heston, he was our strongest supporter. Whenever I saw George he would always comment on how wonderful we all were and how hard we worked. He would marvel at "how much we accomplished " never mind that George was the ultimate accomplisher. H was involved in and a major force in so many civic endeavors from The Peabody Museum, to Sleeping Giant State Park (thank you George for those wonderful trails) to The Long Wharf Nature Preserve, to name only a few. Always a smile and kind word, George was a true friend of this club. I last saw George at our flower show. Jean was ill and could not help out at this one so George came down to take her place. He had volunteered to sit at the reception table. He even wore one of our Tee Shirts ! He will be missed by all ; his friends, the community and especially the garden club. Betsy N
