An avid gardener for years, Betsy never thought about joining the New Haven Garden Club until she ran into Martha Alexander at a dinner party. After hearing how Betsy built her own garden retaining walls, Martha immediately wanted to sponsor her as a provisional member. “I found that I wanted to join,” says Betsy, “because it is a great way to educate myself and to help the community at the same time.”
A financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, Betsy has been active for many years in local community projects. She has served on the board of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and now serves on the NHSO Foundation Board, which manages the endowment for the symphony. Betsy enjoys working on a variety of home projects and loves being an aunt to her seven nieces and nephews. She takes them traveling with her and even makes their Halloween costumes.
Betsy looks forward to participating in the Kitchen I class and to helping with the upkeep of Phelps Triangle. And of course, the December Meals and Mantels Tour appeals greatly to her.
