November Meeting

Monday, November 5th the meeting is entitled, "Orchids in Your Life" with Judy Becker of Lauray of Salisbury, CT.

Who doesn't love orchids: They are the first plants I explore at any flower show. Such beauty, they put a smile on my face. I was given an orchid once but must have overwatered it, as it's flowers painstakingly wilted and fell off....one....after....the other. It was so excruciating to watch that I never got another orchid again because I didn't want to put such beauty through what seemed to me to be so much pain. I'm looking forward to our speaker, Judy Becker, to come and enlighten us all on this wonderful species. Judy's greenhouse, Lauray of Salisbury, is open to the public, but you must call ahead. She offers orchids for sale ranging from small seedlings to large plants in bloom. Judy will be bringing a myriad of orchids for us to ogle. An active member of the Connecticut Orchid Society and an Accredited Judge with the American Orchid Society, she will be giving us useful tips on how to grow and care for orchids. And who knows....after the lecture I might just be brave enough to buy another orchid. Please bring all your orchid-loving friends and join us for what will be an inspiring program. See you on Nov. 5th!
Lisa Lovejoy
