December:
As you all know, our club gets together in December to make floral arrangements for area nursing homes. It’s wonderful to be a witness to this event, old and new members come together and there is great joy and a festive atmosphere. This workshop takes place at the CARRIAGE HOUSE in Edgerton Park on Monday, Dec. 15th at 9:30am. Please bring greens, greens, greens, as well as trash bags and some clippers. After our workshop, we will enjoy a holiday party and lunch. I am in the process of getting my hands on the documentary “A Man Named Pearl,” which Antonia Adezio mentioned at the November meeting. If I get the DVD in time, I would very much like to have a showing after our workshop.

January:
Our January meeting will take place Monday, January 12, 2009. The program that day is called “Learning From My Mistakes: A Technophobe’s Guide to Garden Photography” by Karen Bussolini. Ms. Bussolini specializes in garden photography, writing, and lecturing. Her photographs have appeared in such magazines as, Garden Design, Horitculture, House Beautiful, House and Garden, Traditional Home, The American Gardener, and Country Living Gardener, to name a few. She was also sole photographer for five books.
Please note the TIMING CHANGE for our JANUARY MEETING! Because Ms. Bussolini will be doing a photographic critique for us, we will be adhering to the following schedule: 11:45am-12:15pm – Light Lunch; 12:15pm-12:55pm – Business Meeting; 1:00pm-2:00pm – Program; 2:00pm-3:00pm – Photographic Critique.
In lieu of the “Fresh Cup,” members are being encouraged to bring a photograph they have taken of a garden subject. Even if you can’t stay for the photographic critique, please bring a photograph. The more photographs we have available for the critique, the more we will learn from Ms. Bussolini.
I look forward to seeing you all at our December Workshop at the Carriage House!
