As part of GCA's centennial celebration, every GCA club will take part in a tree project, designed to have a significant impact throughout the country. Trees will demonstrate of the purpose of GCA: "...to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement."
We have until March, 2009, to submit our tree plan to GCA, which will be a project of our choice in our community that focuses on historical significance, preservation, beauty, sustainability or environmental value.
Given our legacy of Trees on the Green, we have the perfect base upon which to build our project, and the Horticulture, Conservation, Civic and Trees on the Green committees are already defining the scope and substance of our work.
If you have an interest in participating in this exciting endeavor, please contact Cordalie Benoit, Amy Estabrook, Mikey Hirschoff, Rosita Murphy or Debbie Edwards.
