Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen Ride to End Hunger

On Sunday, Sept 13, we'll be having our annual Ride to End Hunger
charity benefit for DESK. This has traditionally been a motorcycle
ride, but this year I talked my executive director into allowing me to
plan a bicycle leg as well, in honor of our
sustainability campaign. I designed a route to hit as many major
features from the city Green Map as possible; as you can see, the
Garden Club's Phelps Triangle space is listed as one such point of
interest on the ride:

http://www.ridetoendhunger.com/bicycle.php5 as well]

We should be passing the garden between 12:15 and 12:45pm on the day
of the ride, if anyone is around and wants to wave hello!

We'd also welcome any interested riders, of course, from the ranks of
the Garden Club or its allies-- DESK has been serving record numbers
of people since the economic downturn, and is hoping for a good
turnout on ride day. We've got experienced
ride guides from Elm City Cycling and a police escort lined up, so
this will be a relaxed and safe intro to urban cycling in New Haven
for novice riders. There will also be convenient parking available
(at the start or finish of the ride) for cyclists from outside the
downtown area.
