Flower Design Committe---alerts for upcoming events

October 17, 2009 (rain or shine) – Please try to go to the show and support Vicki Arkins who is an exhibitor. Garden Club of Madison HOUSE TOUR of 6 Private Homes and STANDARD FLOWER SHOW, “Autumn in the Air.” Hours: 1-5pm. Ticket information: $25 in advance, available until Monday, Oct. 12, at RJ Julia Booksellers and Breakwater Books in Guilford, or by sending a check and self-addressed, stamped envelope to GC of Madison, PO Box 29, Madison, CT 06443. October 27-29, 2009 - FLOWER SHOW SCHOOL, COURSE IV. Horticulture Instructor - Darlene Newell - discuss pumpkins, gourds, and conifers with an emphasis on collections and displays. Floral Design Instructor - Julia Clevett - will discuss Table Designs, as well as Small and Miniature Designs. Sign up and bring a friend for FREE! Cost for the Full Course is $85 (with or without the exam), or you can purchase separate day tickets for $45. Location: Jones Auditorium, Connecticut Agriculture and Experiment Station

November 12-14, 2009 - Wilton Garden Club STANDARD FLOWER SHOW, “A Feast for the Eyes – A Taste of Georgetown” Hours: Nov. 12, 1-4pm; Nov. 13-14, 10am -4pm Location: Gilbert and Bennett School, New Street, Georgetown, CT Ticket information: $15 in advance; $20 the day of the show. A group of members is car-pooling to the show on Friday, November 13th. Please contact Lisa Lovejoy at lmlovejoy@yahoo.com if interested.

February 18-21, 2010 - The Federated Garden Clubs of CT presents, “SPICE OF LIFE,” a STANDARD FLOWER SHOW. Hours: Feb 18-20, 10am-8pm; Feb 21, 10am – 6pm. Location: Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford, CT

Ticket information: $14; Advance ticket orders for Garden Club members are $9, if ordered by February 9th. Tickets are free if you work at the show!
