GCA NATIONAL AFFAIRS AND LEGISLATION MEETING, February 22-25:

Please let Mikey Hirschoff know of any local environmental concerns that could be addressed at the Federal level, which you want her to try to bring to the attention of Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.

EVENTS OF INTEREST:

The Sasqua Garden Club is hosting “Go Native” on April 10, from 8:30am to 3:30 pm at the Roger Ludlowe Middle School, 689 Unquowa Road, Fairfield, CT, featuring authors Doug Tallamy and William Cullina on planting native plants. Tickets, including lunch, are $65 per person. Purchase through their website: www.sasqua.org, or by mailing a check payable to Sasqua Garden Club, 912 Hulls Farm Road, Southport, CT, 06890.

The Connecticut premier of the film, “A Chemical Reaction; The Story of a True Green Revolution,” will take place on March 7at 2 pm at Cinestudio, Trinity College, Hartford. (For directions, go to www.cinestudio.org.) Donations of $10 per person are suggested. COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES:

In addition to updating and more broadly distributing the “Buy Local . . .” booklet, the Conservation Committee and the Flower Design Committee are planning a flower design demonstration by Lisa Evarts of Hot Petunia, who uses reusable mechanics. The event will be open to all CT (and RI GCA) garden club members and their friends. Details, date (April or May) and time will follow.
