Members, Prospective Members, Husbands, and Friends. Please sign up for this great trip. We need more people so we can get a bus. I must know a final number by May, 1st. bnininger@mac.com
Dear Members, I have an exciting announcement for you. Several years ago I attended the most fantastic house tour in Brooklyn. I have never forgotten the experience. It takes place each Spring in the Park Slope area where my brother in law, Richard Nininger lives. I was enchanted at seeing the restored brownstones and in many cases lovely and creative small backyard gardens. Park Slope has turned into a sophisticated and lovely commercial and residential neighborhood. They have a strong civic council which keeps standards high. The tour this year will be held on Sunday, May, 20th from 12 until 5pm. I would anticipate taking a bus from New Haven at around 9 am. The ticket price is $20 per person in advance. Richard has kindly offered to purchase advance tickets for us as soon as we know the final count. He reports that the homes will be between the Park and 7th ave. All built between 1880 through 1890. They are in what is now called ”the gold coast” Restaurants abound of every type and Richard also offered to make those arrangements when we know what we want. This is a fun outing and a unique one. All are invited, families and friends. I hope to entice Richard to go along as a guide. He is an Architect and has restored the brownstone in which he lives on Sterling place and is full of interesting information about the history of the homes as well as the area. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested, then you MUST reserve with a check by April 20th. The only unknown is the price of the bus but I hope to keep it to $20 or $25 if we can get 40 people. Print this out and make copies for friends or e-mail to friends. Let me hear from you soon. Love, Betsy.
