Conservation/Civic Committee

The Conservation/Civic committee met for the first time at my house at 10:30 Monday before the Garden Club meeting. We discussed many possibilities for projects to work on this year, ranging from working on open spaces, clean water, recycling, global warming and practical organic practices.

The Civic element of the Committee was most interested in working with one school, doing flower arranging or propagating with one or more classes.

Several interesting web-sites are available:

www.gcamerica.org/membersonly/conwatch-newsletter/conwatch

(name is: ngamember, password is: compost)
It is a monthly newsletter published monthly by GCA covering the gamut on conservation topics

Another terrific site for those inundated with catalogs:
www.catalogchoice.org
An easy to use (once you get the hang of it) way to take your name off catalog mailing lists. You can re-enter them if you change your mind.

As many of you might have noticed in the paper, the Broadwater Gas project is on again. We must work with those who are trying to stop it – again.

Just a brief recap of what was an exciting meeting, with many enthusiastic participants.
Please join us next time on Feb. 11, at 10:30 AM, 107 Ogden Street. We will finish up in time to get to the Garden Club meeting.
