I would like to inform all members of an interesting exhibition and lecture series, taking place at the New York School of Interior Design from January 23 – April 12, 2008. The school is located at 170 East 70th Street in NYC.
The exhibition is called “Watercolors from the Highgrove Florilegium,” and will be in the school’s Gallery. A four-part lecture series, open to the public, is also scheduled. Individual tickets are $35 or $125 for the four-lecture series. The following is a synopsis of the lectures:
Wednesday, January 23rd (6pm) – “Highgrove: The Garden” by David Howard, who is head gardener for HRH The Prince of Wales, and has worked for 7 years maintaining the gardens of Highgrove.
Wednesday, February 20th (6pm) – “Reflections of a Garden-Designer” by Martin Lane Fox, who is an international landscape and garden designer.
Wednesday, March 12th (6pm) – “Gardens of the Roman World” by Patrick Bowe, who is the author or co-author of 9 books on gardens and garden history.
Wednesday, April 9th (6pm) – “Beauty as the Informing Principle of Sustainability” by David Cadman, who is an urban land economist and a writer.
In addition, the Friends of Horticulture at Wave hill will hold three lectures at the New York School of Interior Design on January 30th with Patricia Lonas, curator of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden Florilegium Collection; February 27th with Alexander Reford on the Jardins de Metis in Quebec; and March 19th with garden designer Pepe Maynard.
If interested or if you want more information on the above, please email Lisa Lovejoy at lmlovejoy@yahoo.com or call at 488-6537. If there is enough interest, I can organize a group outing.
