MARCH PROGRAM

Our yearly evening meeting will be taking place on Monday, March 3rd at 7pm in the Jones Auditorium of the Connecticut Agriculture Station. This evening program will be filled with wonderful things to hear and see. Patrick Comins, Director of Bird Conservation for Audubon, CT, will be our speaker. Did you know that there are 27 recognized IBAs int he State of Connecticut alone, one being East Rock Park right here in New Haven? Mr. Comins will be talking about these "Important Bird Areas" and how we, as gardeners, can contribute by minimizing invasive plantings in recognized IBAs throughout the state.

Prior to the main lecture, Bea Alexander, daughter of GCNH member Martha Alexander, will give a brief presentation called "Global Warming - Less Talk, More Action." I'm impressed with Bea's enthusiasm, passion, and willingness to speak publicly about these important issues. I can't wait to hear her presentation.On display for all to see will be the dazzling floral designs by our own Designing Women. Designs presented follow the theme "Birdland," in conjunction with our lecture. Please feel free to bring spouses and friends, but notify hospitality of any guests you are bringing. You don't want to miss this fabulous event! I look forward to seeing you all on March 3rd.
