Conservation & Civic Committee Report

OPEN MEETING BEFORE THE GENERAL MEETING

APRIL 7 11:15 A.M.
The April meeting of the Conservation/Civic committee will take place at the Experiment Station just prior to the general meeting. Mikey Hirschoff will discuss her trip to Washington as our representative to the GCA National Affairs and Legislation Committee conference. She hopes that you have a chance to look over the synopsis that she sent to everyone so that she can then elaborate with greater depth and still have time to answer questions.

Her report to the Committee last month was astounding. She met so many people, learned so much, and is able to relate it with enthusiasm and joy. And we learned so much as well.

Please be sure to come.

At the last meeting, we discussed the possibility of getting involved in a gardening therapy program at the VA hospital. This would be a long-term commitment – please let me know if this seems interesting to you. We could, and probably should, try to involve other garden clubs to join with us.

Broadwater is back again! In January the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued their final Environment Impact Study saying that the project would result in limited adverse environmental impacts. This despite Connecticut’s strong opposition. New York has not yet taken a stand.
