Dear Members,
My snowdrops are blooming, my daffodils are in bud, and my tulips are up two inches!!! What a glorious time for gardeners and the Garden Club of New Haven.
Spring brings us the two last programs for this year. Sherry Sanelli, floral designer, will be our speaker for April followed by a tour of Broken Arrow in May. Both are programs truly not to be missed. We hope to see you all there for these wonderful programs.
We are all so excited about our Flower Show and Cocktail Party at the home of Vicki Arkins on April 11. The provisionals will be participating in their first show as members of the Garden Club of New Haven. Other members and invited participants will be displaying their arrangements throughout Vicki’s home. Make sure that you have reserved that evening as it promises to be great fun and an important fundraiser for our club.
The Phelps Triangle Committee has been meeting with landscape designers over the past few months. They hope to have a decision made and presented to the board and membership in April. They are very excited about the proposed improvements to the Triangle and look forward to sharing their plans with you. A hint: the big trees are staying.
I remind our members that the Presidents’ Project for this year is a collection of used garden implements that we will be donating to Habitat for Humanity. Please bring your used tools, gardening gloves, and other gardening implements to the April meeting.
At the April meeting members are invited to exhibit their photographs in a competition for which photograph will be entered at the Zone II meeting in May. Call Stephanie Rank for additional information.
Other committees are planning events for the spring such as planting flowers at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, visiting gardens, civic projects, planting trees, and touring the new Wagner Garden at the Neighborhood Music School.
As you see we have a busy spring planned for the Garden Club. Put all the dates on your calendar and do not miss a thing.
Sincerely,
Billie
