GCA by Design (The Flower Arranging Study Group of The Garden Club Of America)- this little gem comes out four times a year and is so much fun for all who relish in flower design. It is also very informative. The winter issue arrived last week containing photos of arrangements with explanations of how they were constructed, as well as the following information. Definitions with illustrations of: Clustering, Pave, Tufting, Layering, Stacking, Terracing and Grouping, and Zoning. And.... beautiful photos of Fioro Sulla Citta ("Flowers on The City") A flower show in Genoa Italy; Oh! those Europeans, they are the best!!! Near the back there is a page called, "Random Resources" consisting of tips from other arrangers such as this from Althea Higham; work the stem of Anthurium with thumbs together to establish curves just the way one handles Broom to make it curve. She notes that palm spaeths can be reshaped by soaking in water until sodden. For an interesting and unexpected shape in arrangements try plucking carnations and use the de-petaled head. Hope I have succeeded in sparking your interest . The subscription price is $40 (2 years) $60 (three years) or $80 (four years)
