Common Ground High School Shakespeare Garden Partnership

You are invited to join GCNH volunteers to work with students at Common Ground to plan and plant a Shakespeare Garden.

The garden club will be involved with the faculty and students on the horticultural component of the school's Shakespeare project, and the Elm Shakespeare Company will be working on the theatrical component of this ambitious undertaking.

The staging of the play will be on June 3, 2009. Between now and then, we will
review the student's research involving Elizabethan gardens, plants mentioned in Shakespeare's plays and other Shakespeare gardens already in existence. We will help the students with plant selection and will review their drafts of garden design plans. Eventually, we will procure the plant material and help the students plant the garden. All of this will be done before June 3rd!
Common Ground is the nationʼs first charter school focused on the urban environment. It is also a small college preparatory high school, helping students develop the skills and knowledge to succeed after graduation. This project aligns well with Common Groundʼs approach to learning: combining challenging academic materials, opportunities for relevant, active learning, and a rich grounding in the local environment

If you would like to participate in this interesting and worthwhile community project, please contact Debbie Edwards.
