Volunteer at the RI meeting in May

The Volunteer opportunities abound at the GCA Annual Meeting which is to take place on May 1-4 in Providence . The Convention Center is the Venue as well as the Biltmore and the Westin Hotels. Your help is needed as a Hostess, and at a session with the Decoration Committee making pre-designed table arrangements, at the Flower Show and at the Reception table. Most shifts are 2 hour shifts and then you are free to shop at the Boutique, visit the Flower Show, attend all meetings and some workshops.

Everyone may attend the Awards Banquet. The cost is $100 per person. The dinner will begin at 6:30 Sunday evening. This is always the highlight of the three days, with national awards, good speakers, wonderful entertainment , nice people to meet and lots of excitement. To reserve, please contact Marilyn Percy. marilynpercy@sbcglobal.net.

Another great event will take place on Saturday on the top floor of the Convention Center at 3:30. There will be photographs in the form of a Power Point show of each and every design and horticulture exhibit in the flower show. There will be two panels of judges who will discuss each exhibit. The name of this event is : What were those Judges Thinking?

The Flower Show will be open from Friday afternoon until Sunday and the Boutique will be open
Friday and Saturday. There is a group going up on Sunday morning to help arrange flowers for the Awards Banquet. Please let Betsy Nininger know if you are interested in coming along so transportation can be worked out.

You can get information on line about parking, restaurants, schedule of events etc from the GCA web site and the Rhode Island Visitors and Convention Bureau.
