Notes from the Visiting Garden Committee

Committee met on March 23 about opportunities and what follows is the Committee's consensus.

--In the process of finalizing plans for the Garden Club to visit the Phyllis Warden Garden in Bedford Hills, New York the second week of July. As soon as contact is made with Phyllis Warden an actual day during that week we will quickly inform the membership.

This is a 7 acre garden that contains perrenial borders, two water gardens, a formal vegetable garden, a wildflower garden, a moss and fern garden, a marsh garden and a woodland walk. More details will follow soon. Just the tour is $5.00 per member with discounts for groups of six.
Lucy Elliot is researching what other near by garden to visit on the same day. No buses!
Research in progress about lunch at the near by Bedford Post Inn owned by Richard Gere.

--In Mid September, no firm date as of yet, the committee is in the process of planning and presenting to our Garden Club, a movie on the history of the Grove Street cemetery followed by lunch and a walking tour. Carol Ross of our committee is taking the lead on arranging this event with conjunction with Karyl Evans productions.

--Member Gardens this year will be co-ordinated so that near by gardens can be viewed on the same day. So far the list includes: Natalie Ronai, Ina Jaffee, Betty greene, Daphne Murray, Jeannie Kashgarian, Mikey Hirschoff, Jim Niederman, Shelby Wilson and hopefully Joan Gordon! Also, there is a Yale garden that we might be able to visit as well.
