Like a lucky strike or a hole in one the exhibitors in the Connecticut Flower Show have all managed to rank 3rd. Vickie Arkins for each of her unique designs (a must see ), Nancy Ahlstrom for her great hanging design (no small feat ) Betsy Nininger for her small table and the Horticulture committee led by Cordalie Benoit for their beautiful display of Begonias. The only two who broke the 3rd place mold were Billy Ladd and Betsy Nininger, both with second place ranks for their Amaryllis entry. As usual, a simple ribbon does not tell the whole story, for instance, Vickie was up against two of the most talented arrangers in the state if not the country and she received a high third for her floor design. Nancy also had very brisk competition from three expert arrangers with years of experience.
